Let's Give Them Hope

Back to Agency List

In a country where AIDS and dire poverty are the norm, Let's Give Them Hope offers programs in rural Zimbabwe to feed orphans and teach hip-hop dance to teenage boys.

Musana, Zimbwabe is an area with extremely limited services.  A 2011 UNICEF report put the number of child-headed households in Zimbabwe at 100,000.  There is a large percentage of orphans and children in very impoverished situations. LGTH has feeding programs for about 150 to 200 children that are the neediest.  LGTH also offers help with school fees, tutoring and homework, and activity programs.

LGTH also reaches out to boys aged 14-19, organizing hip-hop dance competitions and workshops. Zimbabwe has the highest percentage of AIDS orphans per capita in the world, and the highest risk group are boys in the program’s target age range.

With a chance to dream, and given skills that enhance their self-esteem, the aim is to give these children and youth confidence, hope, and a dream for the future.
